A Brief History of the Atemporal Lifeform

from SIMULACRA by Gnosis

lyrics

there is a room with a painting on the wall
depicting a room with a painting on the wall

three men entered the port
carrying burlap and flax
the sea shone like a dusty bookcase
and time abruptly stopped forever

a series of levitating writs of certiorari
printed upon thin sheets of corrugated ectoplasm
asked me to describe the kinesthetic sensation
of a blade of grass
drawn against a double-jointed palm

a pair of logical fallacies
armed to the teeth with thermite
are jaywalking to the cinema
gold grille shining in the heat
country club admission cards emerge at whim
from beneath my feet
"do i fear love"
i quietly inquire as an endless stream of moths
exit my eardrums and dissolve into a fine mist
they're quasicrystalline in nature
and the asphalt is warm

the straight line belongs to man
the curved line to the burnout
and the circle to the leper

and the setting sun sows the seeds of this exegesis
and an n-th dimensional printer lies defunct
without its proper ink
and strapping young fractals scale faces
clutching periscopes
in hopes of spotting any sign that their militant demeanor
is thereby justified
and that is to say nothing of the holographic scorpion
at the coffee shop
savoring his sartre
taking notes on each passerby
and that is to say
nothing of ram dass' newly installed
exoskeleton
and that is to say
everything pertaining to your grade-point average

there is a room with a painting on the wall
depicting a room with a painting on the wall
